Final Year Project - Week 8

Bad news - it's already week 8, time is my enemy.

Good news- I've decided on my FYP topic, started writing Introduction, Aims and Objectives and Literature Review. I have met my Supervisor last Friday and we discussed my theme. He told, that this is an appropriate topic suitable for my degree. I was really inspired by the meeting and started writing the very first bits last weekend. It feels so much better when you are clear with your roles and targets! I think people are scared of something what they don't know, that's why student's don't start writing, don't start research, don't start reading - they don't know what to start with and postpone this very first step until it's too late. But once you have started with something - even if it's just a meeting with your supervisor, or reading a book about how to write your FYP - you become closer to successful completion of you project.

I can see that my colleagues still struggle to choose their topic. Some students came over to the meeting for a first time, even it is week 8 already. So it really depends on motivation, time management and self-discipline. There are a couple of guys who really are doing well on their projects - they have idea, they have written material, they know resources going to be used. I think it's great! And it motivates me to be better as well.

As we have group meetings with our supervisor (around 8 students at a time) we can see each others' progress, mistakes, positive aspects of work done, so I feel I'm learning more than if I had 1 to 1 meeting with my supervisor.
