Good evening all,
I hope your weekend was fine and the new week started perfectly. Well, at least my Monday was really good. First of all, the weather was good - it was a bit chilly and sunny. Me and my course-mate have taken a walk to the Schoolf of Management (that's how we usually get there). Todays Human Resource Management (HRM) lecture was interesting - we had a guest speaker from a real company, who told us about his experience in HRM. He covered a lot of aspects, as labour planning in current economic climate, multinational operations and manufacturing control. He mentioned, that nowadays there is a lack of engineers, so I'm thinking now about doing my Masters in Manufacturing Engineering. It's something I'm interested in, I have a couple of modules covering this area, and I worked in a couple of factories for a while. But I'm not sure, if my BSc Technology Management is actually allowing me to do so. I think the only way I get to know this is applying to PostGrad studies to universities...
Over the weekend I've submitted a couple of CVs and application forms to different companies in regard to graduate scheme. I had an interview last Thursday - Trainee Manager. Unfortunatelly I wasn't successful. And to be honest, I don't know why. The feedback the company provided covered a couple of points I "lacked", such as customer focus, human resources, but I think I actually proved I have these competencies on my On the Job day. Well, my opinion and opinion of the assessors differed.
So actually the big question unanswered still is wether I'm doing PostGrad studies or Graduate scheme...
I had a meeting with my supervisor about my FYP. I still have a lot of work to do, but I know exactly what I have to do, so I just have to do it. Souds like a plan, doesn't it!?
